Welcome, Monica

Welcome, Monica

We are beyond thrilled to welcome Monica Black to the Resolute partnership, perhaps the biggest milestone in the history of Resolute. Building our partnership from two investors to three is a huge transition for us, one  that brings new reach, perspectives and energy to current and future Resolute funds. Along the way we have met many, many candidates who impressed us. But when we met Monica we knew she was the one.

On top of her impressive track record both investing and operating, Monica is a great cultural fit with Resolute. She wears her substantial intellectual horsepower within a personality that is down-to-earth; authentic, warm and naturally connecting; and high on empathy while low on ego. Founders describe Monica as an investor who is unfailingly there for them through the highs and lows, whom they trust, and who is truly on their team. Monica’s founder-centric approach to backing and supporting founders could not be a better match with ours.

"We work with founders at their pace, and being able to handle the ups and the downs takes a special kind of partner; Monica is that partner." - Raanan Bar-Cohen

Monica brings an impressive and well proven background which she will put to great use  leading pre-seed and seed rounds with incredible founders, out of our latest $100M fund, Resolute V.

Monica joins us from Fractal, where she led the investment team that launched 150 vertical SaaS startups. Prior to joining Fractal, Monica founded Function, an investor syndicate comprised of family offices in Miami that invested in early stage financings of companies including Kushki, Truv, Seek AI, Vimcal, and Rime, and served as a scout for Lightspeed Venture Partners. Before transitioning into VC, Monica was an early team member at Clever, an edtech API startup backed by Sequoia and Lightspeed. She also held investing roles at the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative and Providence Equity Partners. Monica got her undergraduate degree from MIT and MBA from Stanford’s Graduate School of Business.

We look forward to many years of partnership with Monica, and many years of Monica building partnerships with founders!
